Maryam Mohajer

Born in 1977 in Tehran (Iran) Maryam Mohajer did her first BA in painting in 1999 at Azad University, Tehran.

In year 2000 she immigrated to the UK, where she has since been living.

Her second BA was in Illustration & Animation at Kingston University (2005).
In 2007 she graduated with an MA degree from the Royal College of Art in Animation.
While still at college, during her first summer break at the RCA, Maryam got the chance to work as an animator on the BAFTA award winning film "The wrong trainers", a BBC commission about children and poverty in the UK.

Maryam's two films "The Girl with Short Hair" and "And Life Went On" (2007) have both been to many international festival such as the London International Animation Festival, DOK Leipzig Festival, MEIFF, In the Palace, Birds Eye View, etc.

"The Girl with Short Hair" was the winner of the 3-months "Artist in Residence" scholarship at the 2007 Tricky Women festival in Vienna.

Furthermore, she has worked as a freelance animator on various projects for companies such as "Trunk" and "Spectre Films".

The artist now works as a freelance animator/film maker.
